The original “Beer Fishing Club” which was created and run by two local fishermen, Fred Newton & Douglas Orley, never took off and ended with funds in the bank. After a period of time Beer and Disrict Sea Angling Association was formed in 1965 and has grown from a few members to a current membership of about forty
Its original headquarters was The Anchor Hotel, then TheBritish Legion Room and now the Beer Social Club.
Monthly meetings are held and club matters and fishy tales are discussed. Members and potential new members are always welcome to come along and join in the discussions and enjoy a social evening.
The club has a very active Boat and Shore section and take part in a number of area competitions as well as the clubs own monthly competitions.

The Boat section fish a monthly large boat competition through out the year and also fish a small boat competition through the summer months. The small boat competitions are fished from members own boats. The large boat competitions are fished from the local fishing fleet based on Beer beach.
The shore section also fish monthly club competitions and also support other local competitions throughout the area.
Competion is very healthy and colmunates in a lively end of season dinner and prizegiving evening of which there are many annual trophys to be awarded.
